Treasurer Al Gerhardt pictured here has sent the Tomball Lions Club Fire Disaster Relief check to the Panhandle of Texas Lions Foundation.
The Tomball Lions Club is helping those in the Texas Panhandle who have been devastated by wildfires. At its Board meeting on March 8th, the organization announced it will be joining the Lions District 2-T1 effort to help provide wildfire disaster relief. The club is contributing $1,000.
The Smokehouse Creek Fire is the largest wildfire in Texas history, burning over 1 million acres since it started on February 26th. The Texas A&M Forest Service reports that the Smokehouse Creek Fire and the nearby Windy Deuce Fire, which also started on February 26th and has burned over 140,000 acres, are nearly fully contained.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the many Panhandle Texans affected by this tragedy.
