Both David & Laura gave an informative presentation on home care and how it differs from home health care. Both David and Laura spoke of how they care for people they serve and can work up a home care program designed for the particular patient as to time and frequency of care with financial considerations. They discussed that Medicare does not yet cover Home Care, but VA and most long term care policies do. Laura passed out a very informative flyer that enumerated the 50 ways they can provide assistance. They have about 80 employees who are W-2 type employees, so they have a good staff for their patients.
After their presentation, David and Laura responded to various questions from the members in attendance. Thanks for a great discussion.
Following the speaker’s presentation and questions, Lion Karen Moore of The Woodlands Lions Club, a guest today, spoke about a few important Lionism things:
- Scrip Talk Station which can scan a prescription medicine bottle and speak to the patient of what medicine and frequency of dosages is in the bottle, great for elderly patients.
- The Woodlands Lions Club has their annual Wildflower Festival tomorrow, November 9th.She indicated we might be interested in looking into this next year by sponsoring a booth. And it’s a good opportunity to meet other Lions.
- Discussed the District Mid-Winter Conference, scheduled for January 25, 2020 at the Hilton Houston North. The main speaker will be a blind rocket scientist with NASA who is a member of the Heights Lions Club.Lion Karen explained about how this is a great event to meet other Lions and hear what other Clubs are doing.Lion Karen offered to sign up any interested Lions for the Conference.
