First Vice District Governor Tony Austin messaged that “changes are coming to 2-S2” as he introduced Speaker District Governor Karl Johnson. DG Karl summarized our District’s Harvey Relief efforts which initially received a $70k grant from LCIF helping to repair homes and people’s lives within our District.  There are still additional LCIF funds available for Harvey affected counties on a first come first served basis. DG Karl inspired Lions to approach Lionism while “flying” as opposed to walking. To be looking “beyond the horizon” as International President Gudren suggests and this can best be accomplished by “flying”.  Campaign 100 has recently been initiated by LCIF which is a capital fund raising project to empower the service of Lions.  Its goal is to raise $100M in each of 3 years ($300M total).  The Texas Lions Camp has recently developed a Master Plan to triple the size of Camp infrastructure to be able to serve triple the number of kids currently served.  Recent changes that have been made by District 2-S2 include putting the District Directory on-line vs. printing individual booklets which has saved the District $2,600 (http://www.lions2s2.org/resources.html).

Also, the monthly Presidents and Secretaries Meetings are being live streamed on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/2s2lions/).  DG Karl emphasized that Service is as simple as helping one person at a time!  He then presented membership recognition certificates to the following Tomball Lions:  Glenn Graff (15 years), Mary Pat Trenkle (25 years), Joe Stachulak (45 years), and Jerome Teichmiller (45 years).  Congratulations for all your years of service!

DG Karl then formally inducted new member Lion Erin Stapleton into the Tomball Lions Club.
