Kent Priest II, Education Coordinator gave the history of Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas. It is a 1-year faith based recovery program for men, women and teens struggling with life controlling issues. Started in 1958 by Pastor David Wilkerson in New York City, the organization currently has over 300 campuses across the world with a 78% success rate. He gave several examples of people coming through the recovery program and became productive citizens in the community.
Taylor Sills is a graduate and heads up the Development and Marketing for the Houston area men's campus located off FM-1774 in Magnolia, Texas. Their website is https://teenchallengetx.org.
He spoke about his journey with Adult & Teen Challenge of Texas. He stated the program was a one-year program, with the 1st 7 months living in a dorm, attending classes, and performing hard work. Security services were a major employer. Thereafter, any candidate lived in a house on the facility and could work up to 10 miles off campus. They also attended classes and went to church services 3 times a week.
