Lion Mike Halbach then introduced guest speaker Dr. Penner Schraudenbach who is a physician with Texas Urology Specialists and a TOMAGWA volunteer. He described the great work that TOMAGWA does in the region helping low income families obtain medical care without having to resort to emergency rooms where the cost to local communities would be exponentially higher. He gave examples how lives are saved by TOMAGWA. Dr. Schraudenbach, as one of TOMAGWA’s medical staff volunteers, described how he provides urological medical services for patients without healthcare insurance or ability to pay describing how he and Tomball Regional Medical Center were able to quickly come together to provide surgery and surgical assistance to an area man with serious prostate cancer. A very interesting Q&A session followed with Dr. Schraudenbach addressing questions about prostrate issues, PSA significance, kidney stones, etc. TOMAGWA’s ability to help area families with medical services is due to the financial help received from the Tomball Lions Club and other non-government entities as well as the volunteerism of medical professionals like Dr. Schrauderbach who thanked TBLC for their help.

Lion Judy Deyo, Executive Director of TOMAGWA discontinued Friday access for patients in October 2014 due to limited resources. With the help of volunteers and funding from organizations like the Tomball Lions Club, TOMAGWA will again be able to offer healthcare on Fridays. She then went on to describe how TOMAGWA operates within the tri-county area. Immunizations for youngsters 18 years of age and younger will be available to families without insurance. All of the TBLC members thanked them for coming and talking to the club.
