The Tomball Lions Club has sponsored the Texas Lions Opportunities for Youth Essay and Speech Contest at Tomball High School for junior and senior students for the last year. Guest Speaker at the Tomball Lions Club July 23rd meeting was Miss Anuska Santra, 2021 Tomball High School (THS) graduate, and participant in the Tomball Lions Club Opportunities for Youth Essay & Speech Contest both her Junior and Senior years at THS.  Miss Santra discussed her experience participating in the program in which she won 1st place both years at the local level, 1st place at District 2-S2 competition both years and 1st place at the State Lions competition in 2020 and 2nd place at the State Lions competition in 2021.  During these two years competing she has earned $3,000 in scholarship funds from the Tomball Lions Club, $2,000 from District 2-S2, and $5,000 from the Texas Lions for a total of $10,000 in Lions scholarship funds for her advanced education.  Miss Santra presented her essay from this past year's competition entitled, "E-Cigarettes: The Youth Epidemic".  At the local level, the Tomball Lions also present scholarship funds to the 2nd and 3rd place winners in the contest.
