Bruce provided an update on the residential, commercial, and mobility growth within the greater Tomball community. Several points Bruce made were:
1. Tomball was named in 1907 after Thomas Henry Ball. He was a U.S. Congressman, prohibition-era political leader, and the driving force behind the Houston Ship Channel. Tomball was renamed in his honor after he helped route the railroad through the area.
2. The Chamber of Commerce is a 5-Star Chamber of Commerce.
3. The Chamber of Commerce exists to promote economic development, creating jobs, schools, and healthcare.
4. Since taking the role in 1994, Hillegeist has overseen:
- Major Tomball growth cycles
- Expansion of Chamber membership
- Development of signature events (Tomball Night, parades, festivals)
- Strengthening partnerships with Texas Economic Development Council, Lone Star College-Tomball, and local government
