2021 Lions Eye Bank of Texas District 2-S2 Bowl-A-Thon will be held at AMF Diamond Lanes. Proceeds from the Bowl-A-Thon benefit the Lions Eye Bank of Texas, which exists to promote the work of the Lions Eye Bank of Texas at Baylor College of Medicine, and in particular, provide community education about the need for donation, vision safety, and prevention for the causes of preventable corneal blindness. The Lions Eye Bank of Texas services the entire Texas Gulf Coast and parts of East Texas. In 2020, the Eye Bank distributed over 1,300 donor corneas for transplant. Thanks to the Lions' contributions and funds from special fundraising events, the Eye Bank is able to continue its educational and community outreach programs along with providing corneas at no charge to indigent patients in need of a transplant.

Texas Lions Opportunities For Youth Essay Contest

The guest speaker at the Tomball Lions Club meeting on Friday, July 23rd, will be Tomball High School Class of 2021 recent graduate Miss Anuska Santra. Miss Santra will discuss her experience participating in the Texas Lions Opportunities for Youth Essay and Speech Contest the past 2 years as sponsored locally at Tomball High School by the Tomball Lions Club. She took first place in the local contest and Lions District 2-S2 contest both her Junior and Senior year competing and took first place at the Lions State Convention competition in her Junior year and second place her Senior year. Miss Santra will present her speech from this year's competition, "E-Cigarettes: The Youth Epidemic".
The Tomball Lions Club meets every 2nd and 4th Friday from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM at Pecos Grilling Company, 28900 Tomball Parkway in Tomball. The public is always welcome to join us.

The guest speaker at the Tomball Lions Club Second Friday meeting on August 13th will be Rory Aplanalp, a Professional Speaker and Author. Most of us don't like change, and yet it is another word for growth. No matter how old or young you may be there are three principles that will change your life immediately: the model of control, the 5-minute rule, and the "parable of the starfish". Moving Waters Ministry

The guest speaker at the Tomball Lions Club Forth Friday meeting on August 27 will be Jennifer Park, Founder, and President of Moving Waters Ministry. Founded by Mrs. Park in 2019, Moving Waters aims to improve the quality of life for homeless individuals across the Greater Houston area by providing mobile showers and hygiene stations through partnerships with other assistance organizations. Showers are available each Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 PM at Tomball United Methodist Church.
The Tomball Lions meet each 2nd and 4th Friday from 12 Noon to 1:00 PM at Pecos Grilling Company, 28900 Tomball Parkway. Visitors are always welcome to our meetings.

Guest Speaker at the Tomball Lions Club 4th Friday meeting on September 24th will be PDG Lion Chuck Martin with the Houston Cy-Fair Lions Club who will speak about the Texas Lions Foundation.

Families Feeding Families Event November 24th 2021

Guest Speaker at the Tomball Lions Club 4th Friday meeting on October 22nd will be Camille Hamilton with Families Feeding Families. She has been actively involved with this group since its initial event on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving in 2011. Since Families Feeding Families' Inaugural event, each year has set a new record for attendance and people served. Outreach has been extended to homeless and elderly shut-ins. Participants are now able to receive a flu shot and receive information on how to get help from local resource groups. Camille will provide a history of the Tomball event and information about this year's event on Wednesday, November 24th. Join us at Pecos Grilling Company on Friday, October 22, at 1200. As always, everyone is welcome to attend!

Update on HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball

The guest speaker at the Tomball Lions Club meeting on Friday, November 12th, will be Robert "Rob" Marmerstein, CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball. He will provide an update on the hospital's current COVID protocol as well as ongoing healthcare enhancements at the Tomball hospital.
Mr. Marmerstein assumed his current position on July 13, 2020. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer for HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood since 2017. He joined HCA Houston Healthcare in 2015, serving as COO at HCA Houston Healthcare Mainland for two years. He began his healthcare administration career in 2009 as an administrative resident at Reston Hospital Center in Reston, Virginia. He later moved to LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Va. and served as associate COO. He holds a master's degree in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. and a bachelor of science in hospitality management from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
